It was the largest ophthalmology clinic in Taichung during the Japanese colonial period. After the surrender of Japan in 1945, Miyahara became Taichung Health Bureau. As time passed by, the suspended Health Bureau slowly decayed and became an unused dangerous building.Fortunately, Dawn Cake, a pastry company renowned for its pineapple cakes, acquired the building and preserved Miyahara's original red-brick walls and archway. The interior decor was redesigned like Hogwarts in the movie Harry Potter. The water well in the middle of the building is redecorated into a modern-looking fundraising box made of glass.Visitors to Miyahara are not only recommended to appreciate the details of the historic architecture but also try Dawn Cake’s signature ice cream, bubble tea and pastries wrapped in nostalgic packings!The Lin's garden in Wufeng(Lai Yuen) The Lower Mansion includes Caocuo, Gongbaodi, Dahuating, Erfangcuo, and Ershibajian. The Upper Mansion covers Yi Garden, Rongjingzhai, Jingxun Building, and Shincuo. The Lai Garden now is Shin Min High School, which is what most people regard as “the Lin Family Garden”.The Gongbaodi garden area open to the public in The Lin's garden in Wufeng(Lai Yuen) is confined to the 2 parts of Gongbaodi and Dahuating in the Lower Mansion. It is currently run by the Linbentang Corporation, offering very sound tour guide services and enhancing the development of sightseeing in Wufeng.Empire Sugar Factory Taichung Office Built in 1935, the historic building “Empire Sugar Factory Taichung Office” that walked through the Japanese domination period to the national government period of the Republic of China and went through three owners witnessed the rise, prosperity and decline of Taiwan’s sugar refinery industry. After being out of production in 1993, a part of Empire Sugar Factory Taichung Office was reopened to the public in 2019 as a part of Taichung Cultural Heritage Park. The internal space of the building is used not only to run exhibitions and activities related to the sugar refinery industry and Taichung’s local culture and development history, but also DIY and experiencing activities are held from time to time to bring great fun to all visitors, and craftsmen from all sectors are invited to hold cultural and creative workshops. Besides, the enormous Taichung Cultural Heritage Park is a good place for visitors to walk around during leisure time. During the day, you can walk up to the tower and overlook the panoramic view of Empire Sugar Factory Taichung Office. Besides, the circle viewing platform located in the middle of Xingquan Lake offers visitors the opportunity to observe aquatic ecology in a close distance.National Taiwan Museum of Fine Arts The Taiwan Museum of Art, which opened in 1988, has a total of 24 exhibition halls. The museum regularly holds exhibitions of Western art, Chinese brush paintings, and sculpture, and has its own collection of valuable pieces of art. Residents can relax in the garden outside the museum.Gaomei Wetland Gaomei Wetland located on the south of the mouth of Dajia River is a land mixed with both sand and soil textures and comes in 1,500 acres. That explains why it has complicated yet rich wetland ecology and possesses the largest group of Bolboschoenus planieulmis in Taiwan. Due to diverse geographical features, the species of its ecology is quite abundant. Every year around fall and winter, large flocks of migrating birds would come here for either short or long stay over the winter, serving as the best spot for bird-watching.
